catch trends

catch trends

the future is searchable

every day, billions of people type their interests, fears, desires, and curiosities into google. that data is publicly available through google trends, and almost nobody uses it to make better decisions about their life.

the search bar is a window into the collective human mind. when something is trending upward, it means attention and money are flowing in that direction. and where attention goes, opportunity follows.

most people open google trends, type in a random term, look at a graph, and close the tab. that's not trend analysis. here's a better approach:

compare, don't just search. the power of trends is in comparison. search "electric bikes" vs "regular bikes" and watch the crossover happen in real time. that crossover point is where industries shift.

look at 5-year windows. ignore the daily noise. zoom out to five years and look for consistent upward trajectories. a term that's been climbing steadily for five years isn't a fad — it's a shift.

check related queries. google shows you what else people are searching alongside your term. this is where you discover niches nobody is serving yet.

think geographically. trends move from region to region. what's exploding in california might not have hit the midwest yet. that gap is an opportunity window.

the 10-year question

here's the exercise: spend an hour on google trends and try to answer one question — where will the world be in 10 years?

look at what's rising: remote work, AI tools, mental health, plant-based food, home fitness, financial independence. now look at what's declining. the story tells itself.

why this matters for you

you don't need to start a business to benefit from trend awareness. knowing where the world is headed helps you choose what skills to learn, where to invest, what career to pursue, and what to ignore.

the future rewards people who saw it coming. google trends is free. use it.

if this resonated, share it with someone who needs to hear it.
